W-whoa, I'm using mature tags on this page? (What the gosh-darn heck??) :ohnoes:

A lot of personal stuff went on all throughout the past week. Nevertheless, the story sallies forth~!

(I'm should take the time to let you know the updates are still going to be slow and probably less than one page per week for a while. :\ I'm actually in the middle of some major career decisions and, ironically enough, if it goes well, it'll disrupt my SSnPP plans even more. Bunny Emoji-73 (Tears) [V4]  But I have to take a lot of realistic steps to make sure things work out in the long run...)
Haven't at all considered giving up, but maaan is it taking its time. :iconrelievedplz:

I really should have finished this story a year ago ,_, 2016 has proven to be one massive speed bump for art projects...

I'd like to think my comic has similar elements to newspaper strips, what with the never-ending parade of cliffhangers. >XD

Oh man, sorry to hear about that--a lot of heavy decisions weighing on you, huh?

This page is looking great though!!  I love the dynamicism of the shots here and Sally comin' to the rescue... B-b-b-but if the spy isn't human then... then... is it... PEPPERBRANDY??

Mm yeah. I mean just from the pure context of "career in industry vs. career doing indies" it's pretty badly skewed towards the former. ^x^
A big part of me just wants SSnPP (this black & white comic) to be completed and done with. It's already well over 7 years old now. :stare: Hindsight being 20/20, I should have wrapped the story up at 100 pages, put out a single graphic novel, and move on to the next story. You kind of have the right idea: keep a lot of stories going at once vs. one big massive project. Because if that one big massive project fails to grow a meaningful (i.e. profitable!?) audience for you in X number of years, then you're kinda screwed and wasted all your time. :B

But, yeah. When all is said and done I'll have this 300-page monster that I'll put out there and see what the world thinks of it.

Thanks. I figured none of the characters on this page can talk, so I let the others talk off-camera. >XD
N-n-n-NO WAYYYYY. PEPPERBRANDY WOULD NEVER. NEVER EVER. :crying:

O-O-Oh noooOOOOOO man, th-that's crazy-!!  I'm so sorry to hear that, and kind of amazed that SSnPP DIDN'T get a profitable enough audience...??  Maybe it's the genre/market though... man, there's so much tricky stuff involved in this-!  That's such a challenge, gosh...

But ahhhh, I still look forward to a finished complete book of SsnPP, that sounds pretty awesome, hahahah.
Thanks though man, I'll keep that in mind... I've wanted to dig into Iris many, MANY times now, but it's definitely a way huger story than 100 (or even 300 XD) pages, so I feel like yeah, it's best for me to keep doing what I'm doing now and continue to explore smaller, shorter stories for now;;;

And pahahah!!  S-Sorry, I just gut-impulse assumed, since "spy" and "not human" were all I heard, and all I saw was the Pepperbrandy-!

No, it's not profitable enough to justify the time and money I spent. :\
I mean a lot of it was done while maintaining real employment but, with how quickly Real Life catches up, I have to close this chapter and move on. 6v6;
Nowadays most graphic novelists get their first major work done when they're 21, and ones who are my age will have already put out 5 or 6 complete stories. XD;

It's not just working on the comic of course; it's about actively seeking publication/distribution deals, frequently competing for awards/contests, and *shudder* being super-active on social media. ¦'D I don't do enough of those things so SSnPP naturally doesn't grow its audience in any substantial way. Here I am too busy trying to make money the legit way, BOO!

Yeah; I mean at least I can market the completed book as something unlike any other graphic novel (since I worked so bloody hard on it). But I won't actually put together a 300-page novel unless it's crowdfunded. If no one is willing to support it, SSnPP: the comic will forever remain 8 individual issues.

So, Iris is the big one for you huh? :> Like I said, the only real way it'll work is if you put out a 100 (or even 50) page story on the market and see if it catches fire. That means you have to be able to tell a complete story while keeping the audience intrigued for me. Just don't make the same mistakes I did, is what I'm saying. XD;;

Oh man, I'm so sorry to hear that though; it really IS such a hard thing, not just producing pages and working on art and story--but then having to market yourself on top of all that??  Frigg man, that's... a lil demoralizing hahahaha, not gonna lie.  But man... th-thanks for telling me about it, it's definitely something to keep in mind and chew over!

(AUs are sounding pretty appealing right now lmao; or any other short story I've got sitting around that I could make a decent, 100-page or so graphic novel out of...)

Ah well. :phew: It was also a case of the shifting market trends during the time I started my comic to now.

Another thing that indie comic creators do is join indie presses, so you're under an umbrella brand with a dozen other comics (i.e. the audience will have more options and stick around at your store/booth/site)

As far as which story, don't let me influence your decision too much. >D

Ahahahaha!!  Or, like, Hiveworks too, right?  At first I was confused by what Hiveworks did but now it's sounding pretty useful/legit since they seem to handle a lot of the marketing work hahah; maybe for next summer's round of applications I'll try to get something together to apply for them!

Is that what you meant by the indie presses?  O:  Do you know any more of 'em by name?  I'm only able to think of like, zine collaborations and stuff right now, hahahaha.

Yeah, them or Web Toon (though that's a ton of prep work as you need to have a full "page" - more like a mini episode haha - ready each week)

It's something I'd love to do as a follow-up to SSnPP if I had the time. ¦^\
guess we'll see where things stand by then..

The different sort of focuses (is that a good way to put it?) in these panels look really good.

Thanks. :D It took a while to figure out how to stylistically divorce the two elements (I did it before in Chapter 6, but here it's not just a top-&-bottom panel divide of storylines like it was there)
